is 9 weeks old Pepper, our new black Lab pup who came to live with us on 03-11-2012. It was not our intention
to get another puppy right away after our beloved Kipper unexpectdly died on New Years Eve 2011, but once again God works
in strange ways which we will never understand.
Our Beau became very sad and depressed
with our Kipper's unexpected passing across the RAINBOW BRIDGE, and even though Miss Belle was doing her best to
cheer up Beau, he ended up spending a day in the doggy hospital having to be re-hydrated from not eating or drinking, a repeat
of what happened when our Tracker died....Beau had been with Kipper since he was 5 weeks old, seven years of companionship
and devotion to each other, and Beau does not deal well with loss. He just did not seem to beat this depression
so,we decided that just maybe we would look at some Lab pups if we happened to find a litter and see if this
would help to bring him out of his funk. The odd thing is that for several weeks I kept having these crazy premonitions
and dreams about a black Lab puppy. It is such irony that a friend of ours was also looking for a puppy to
replace their long time companion of many years, also a beautiful black Lab, when he just happened to come
across this litter of puppies. He emailed me with his find along with some pictures, and then he called
and we decided the next day we would all go and just look at the puppies. Long story short, they bought two and we bought
Pepper.
Beau has perked up and is him old self again since Pepper came home
with us. He watching Miss Belle play with this new baby, and he has taken over what Kipper did with him when we
brought Beau home...nuturing a new pup. Oh, he still goes about the house to Kipper's old haunts and smells and looks around, as we would expect him to do because you cannot expect him to erase seven years
of companionship and memories they created together.
