Adventerous Olive age 3 months old |
God works in strange and mysterious ways we will never understand. On November 23, 2016, the evening before
Thanksgiving, Our Miss Belle suddenly and unexpectedly died while I fixing the dogs' supper meal. What was so upsetting is
she was not sick, had not been injured, in fact had just to the vet the week before for her yearly physical, and had a clean
bill of health. She was only 5 1/2 years old, exactly six months from her sixth birthday. Our hearts were shattered,
broken beyond description, and the sadness we all felt both human and animals here is indescribable. But unknown to us, God
had a plan for us, because also unknown to us a beautiful and loving baby Bloodhound soon to be called Olive was
born the evening before. Twas the same pattern.....Like I did with Lily, I started to dream about Olive and her listing
just appeared in my emails every day at the age of 5 weeks old until she was 11 weeks old, the day when I made the decision
to bring her home. We would like to think this sweet girl is Belle reincarnated. If she is or not, this sweet girl has helped
heal all of our broken hearts and has brought laughter and much happiness once again to our household. We will never
forget our Belle, but cherish sharing her life and the happiness of her in our memories forever. Olive is Lily's full sister,
same parents. Also ironically both Lily and Olive have the same exact markings and coloring as puppies. And as Olive
grows, she lightens up and looks more like Lily every day, confusing MANY people trying to figure out which Bloodhound girl
is which. Even the doggy dad has been fooled a few times, so to keep folks straight who is who, they wear different
collars and their name tags are quite visible.
The day
that I brought Olive home and introduced her the rest of the pack, like Pepper and Ulysses, Lily became very happy and
excited, and started sniffing her all over, but suddenly started happily whining, and her tail was wagging like 90 mph as
she was sniffing and started washing Olive all over while inspecting her like a momma dog would
her pup. At first we thought Lily smelled her biological momma and poppa on Olive, but then we both realized Lily
knew this was her sister as did Olive. The two Bloodhound girls are inseparable. We realize God has given us another
gift of love, and this was meant to be. And the great thing about her name, Adventurous Olive, every day is an adventure.
